I like this girl but never get the chance to talk to her, need tips?

I'm shy and I really like this girl (she's not an outgoing person) in school (we're both 16 years old).
I've noticed some attraction signs that she may like me aswell (but I'm not really sure). I never get the chance to talk to her, she's always with her friends (girls). So my question is, how and when do I approach her, and talk to her, and maybe get her number.

I also think it's lame to ask a friend of mine for her number, isn't it?

yes you're right. asking her number from others would be so lame. i recommend you to talk to her face to face the first time you saw her. dont be shy for your love and try to be her friend. after you became friend of her taking her number and things like that are gonna be easy.
