My parents won't let me move back home after college?

I am getting ready to graduate college with my biology degree this fall. The only problem is, I will be homeless after I graduate. They bought a house in my college town for my brother and I to live since he has 3 pets and I have 1 dog and it would cost more for us to rent. However, they want me out as soon as I graduate because they will be selling the house.

They are also moving to another state by the end of this month, and also have told me I cannot move in to the family house (not even the basement) because they will be selling that as well. They have let every other sibling move back after college until they could find a job. Even my brother did when he took 2 years off of college. I have no money due to paying bills and I will have no where to stay. No apartment place will rent to me because I have no credit and my parents won't cosign. I am so stressed out. They won't even reply to any of my texts or calls when I try to plead with them to let me stay until I get on my feet.

All of the rest of my family live in different states and my friends who have graduated or are about to graduate either live with their parents or are moving back home. I have a dog so trying to live with someone else would not be feasable. I fear I will be living out of my car soon.

I have no clue what to do. I'm not sure what I have done to offend my parents, please help.

That is a hefty issue that I can honestly say I have no personal experience to offer for. I can offer someone else's though. My mother is a social worker, and has dealt with many in similar, worse, and much much much worse situations. Your parent's have effectively cut you off, have your brothers or other family?

You say they are living in other states, but in your situation, it may be necessary to go to another state to find a place to stay for a while. As you graduate college, I assume you are educated in fields that can secure you a job that pays somewhat decent- so make something of a plan. Maybe find a relative/friend with jobs in the area that you can apply for, and ask if you can stay with them until you are on your feet. Once you are employed and have some savings, build some credit, and renting nearby won't be an issue.

Of course there are issues, you have a dog. Well, you might need to compromise, have it stay outside most of the time, etc. You might offer to help with (some, not all) of the bills once you start getting a paycheck.

The most important thing you can do is talk to people you know and keep those connections. They may not be able to take you in, but they may be able to get you jobs/living space/connections. If you are religious, consider talking to your local pastor for advice. In the past, church leaders pretty much WERE the welfare system, and most will have connections to help you with. Don't be shy with your issues if someone is open to helping. Be honest- and above all, active. Try to have your own suggestions, specific requests and plans. No one is going to do everything for you, but plenty of good people will help you on your way, if you aren't alienating them.

i mean they bought you a house with your brother so i don't see how it can be that bad. yeah, you have to buy your own groceries and stuff, but i mean it's not like you're on the streets. I don't know where you live, but i just graduated and moved back home with my parents and it blows ass. i mean i like that aren't forcing me out, but i don't like living in my home town at all. and if they did kick me out, it would've been better since i'd be living in houston with my 2 sisters instead of new jersey.

yeah, i moved back home. but still, you said your parents bought you a house with your brother. so you have a place to live. am i missing something?

yes... they are selling the house they bought for us.

oh... yeah, that's pretty fucked up :(. i guess move in with some other family if you can. I don't know. they should at least give you some of the money from selling the house for at least some start up money. or if you have a friend who has an apartment, i guess you can ask to move in with her or him.

That is rough. I don’t know what I would do if my parents suddenly decided to give me a whole lot of independence and practically kick me out of the house, making me fight the cruel and cold world empty handed. I would probably seek help and shelter at my closer relatives or friends, until I got a job and saved some money. But you have the advantage of possessing a higher education, collage, so you could get a job in the field you have studied and get a decent paycheck. Try convincing one of your relatives to take you in, at least until you build some credit, and after that try renting an apartment together with a friend or colleague. Worst case scenario, you will have to sleep in your car, but don’t let that stop you from getting a job. Also, try patching up things with your parents. If you don’t understand why they are behaving like this, then ask your brother, or somebody close with your family what’s wrong.

it might not be personal... maybe their finances went bad and they can't afford anything now? still, if that's true they should have told you months ago. it can take that long at least to sell properties... could you live with one of your siblings, and see if they'll tolerate your dog? you could also watch other people's dogs for extra $... I'm really sorry this is happening to you!!!

I definitely think its personal. My dad just got a huge bonus from work, and theyre getting ready to buy another house in a different state. They honestly just don't care.

fyi, I think if you're self employed, then the gov can't force you to pay for your loans or garnish them.

You are a girl and they are ignorant. Even when a person is angry with their children he lets them live with him. At least that is what my father did for his sister. So, they are totally not taking any responsibility.
You will probably have to find someplace else.

similar state to mine my family left puerto rico for the states and left me to my own luck. i live in my car and can't afford jack shit so I live in my car have a crappy mcdonalds job and a useless degree in business, lifes a bitch ain't it
