Befriending a girl who has a boyfriend?

This recently crossed my mind. Say a guy met a girl, but would rather have her as a friend than as a date, and liked being around her on a platonic level as just friends, but the girl has a boyfriend.

From my point of view, it would seem like this wouldn't really turn out that great. I have a hard time imagining how a girl with a boyfriend would just hang out with a guy as friends.

Like, from the boyfriend's perspective, it would feel really awkward to have the girlfriend hang out with a random dude she just met; it would def feel kinda wrong. Even despite the fact that the guy isn't into the girl.

What do you guys think?

In my opinion, I think it's totally fine to befriend a girl who has a boyfriend. As long as there's no kind of attraction other than a friendly one, I don't view it as something wrong. There's no reason a situation like that should go sour if you're just hanging out or talking. I have a boyfriend, and I chill with my guy friends all the time. I think It's important to still be able to meet and make new friends, opposite genders included, even if you're in a relationship. :)

Yes, I agree. But there's something with friendship with the opposite sex that is kinda "risky" at our young age. I guess the point of the question was to ask if you think it would be weird or "wrong" to hang out with a guy when you've got a boyfriend, even with no attraction or interest in the other person. In a group, I don't think it's that bad, but one on one?... I can't help but think it'd be "wrong" in some way. What do you think?
