How dobyou help a friend who is going through depression?

How dobyou help. I been depressed before and it lasted a year after a car accident i had and i became carless kind of. I stopped being social and gained over 40 pounds which caused my depression to last even longer. 6 years later i have a friend and she is going through depression.

How can i help her? When i went through it pwople disnt believe me because i'm the person people could come to for a laugh or to feel better. I was crying for help and noone helped. Im thankful i made it through on my own. Some are not as lucky as i am.

How do i help her?

There's not much you can do other than listen to her and be there for her. You might be feeling if there's a person with you , it will be better since you had to face it alone. But it will only decrease it by a little amount.
Make her vent out all her feelings and assure her

Trying to get this friend to talk is kinda hard. She put her phone on airplane mode for almost 2 days. We went from talking everyday for a month a a half no less than 4 hours. The most we talked was 8 hours straight after work. Lol she's like my little sister. I claim her as my little sister. When she suffer i suffer. But I don't know what to do. I got her talking yesterday though when she told me what happened

That's how i am too. When i am depressed, i stop replying to all my friends. There's only 1 friend who knows about all this stuff about me. So when i don't reply, she knows something is wrong especially if i give 1 word answers. So she kept on calling and texting me. After i calmed down a bit, i vented all my feelings to her and it felt really good. So you have to break her shell. When you see she is down, force her to say what's wrong and don't leave her alone

Im that 1 friend we related on this stuff together. When she came out of it kind of she texted me and told me what happened. She have a friend she usually hangout with but since me and her became cool that other mutual friend got jealous and stopped talking to her.

We talk every day. It became a routine that we both enjoy. Lol i can just see her 10 mims ago amd she would call me as she was driving home and we talk about any and everything. Then for 2 days she shut me out. I thought ebcause of new year she was busy. I tried to call and it went straight to voicemail. I see her today and tomorrow so we will see.

sounds like you had a brain injury. Makes sense the mind retracts to heal from that.

Tell her you are there for her to talk with.
get her out to walk... physical activity and sunshine good.
Get her mind focused on what she can control and influence and achieve.

maybe you should talk to a licensed, trained therapist, not random people here... unless they have experience.

She has one. Im good now. I had only an injured leg. My car was estimated to last 3 months lasted a year. I was scared my only means of transportation would give out.
