Why does a liar block you and run away when confronted with the truth?

A couple months ago, I ditched a cheating, manipulator. He also stole items and $2000 from me. When my parents, my best friend and I confronted him with the truth, his reaction was blocking all of us, insulting my mother, denying and bailing. Why does a liar do that?

How about apologize (even if I'll obviously never forgive you for it) and own up to it? You're trapped, cornered and you still have the nerves to block and run. Why?

Bully’s are cowards. Next time you see a loud-mouth bossing you about or dictating your actions, remember these words. It’s a general stereotype that I can guarantee applies to all who fit the prototype. I hate to generalise, but this is the one instance where in life I’ve always been right.
