so my family friend from who was once my long distance boyfriend was in bootcamp for 3 months and now is being deployed to Afghanistan in early November. He texted me to tell me that when he finally got his phone back when he graduated bootcamp. He said he will call me before he leaves. Its all really sad--his parents just got divorced, his mom is angry at him for joining the army, and he doesn't really ahve anyone. I'm also scared for him and hope he just gets out of there sooner rather than later. I will definately be writing him when he's there, but I don't know what all I should say when he calls me. It may be the last time I ever speak to him. I don't want to make it too sad of a phone call, but I want him to know I think he's brave and to be safe, ya know? I want anyones suggestions on what I should say on that phone call or what you would want to hear if you were him. thank you!

My sister just got back from Iraq, so I know what you're facing. Just make sure to tell him you care, that you'll be thinking of him, that you're there for him. And if you have anything you need to say, say it. Me and my sister had some issues we needed to clear up, and we did, and we have a much better relationship, even over the e-mails while she was overseas, since. I mean, he's going into a situation where death can be an outcome, so if you have absolutely anything you want to say, make sure you do so.

Well this one will be short...I'm also leaving soon and I'm hoping for when I do get the phone call is how much people miss me and how great everything is back home...I don't wanna hear about the bad stuff because where ill be is bad enough I don't wanna hear about how bad everyone just wants me to come home right now because if I had the choice I would be home with my family and friends...don't know if this helps any hope it did a little...iowa soldier
