My guy friend used to like me and I didn't feel the same, now I'm starting to like him?

So when I first met my guy friend almost 2 years ago, he sat by me in class and he never told me flat out that he liked me but he always called me cute and beautiful (which he still does) and he told me that when we first met he thought I was pretty and was "hoping I'd talk to him" so I'm assuming that by this and by our relationship in general he likes/liked me.

He's literally almost too perfect (I cannot stress this enough.) He's so sweet and never makes any sexual or racist jokes like a lot of college guys sometimes do, he's on our school's track team, and he's super funny. He doesn't even have to try, he's just so laid back and people just naturally like him. He's just the most perfect person for me and some of my friends have even told me that before I just never realized it. Basically when I move, he moves. The only downside is that he's out of town a lot for track.

Anyway, after almost two years I'm finally realizing that I really do like him a lot but I don't know how to just up and say "hey, surprise I like you now" Plus according to his Facebook he's in a relationship (which is weird because he's never told me he had a girlfriend) So I'm not really sure where I should go from here.

If I were you first and foremost see if he has a girlfriend...cause if he has one, then you shouldn't pursue it.

If he doesn't have a girlfriend then just start off casually " hey how are you?" or something similar. Then once you are talking to him then just be upfront on what you want. Ask him if he is interested in a relationship with you and such, and just be honest, cause remember "Honesty is the best policy" and "Communication is the key"

Also I would like to add...that it has been known that when a guy calls you "beautiful" that means he is interested in a relationship with you. For some reason it's the word "Beautiful" any other word like "cute" "hot" etc. Don't indicate that. Please don't hold me against it though! lol! Cause it's what I read recently. But good luck!
