What really helps stretch marks to fade

I got a lot of stretch marks on my hips and thighs during puberty, and while it took me a long time to accept them, I was there. And then I got new, deep, purple stretch marks that I hated with a passion. Thanks to the methods in this myTake, they're fading, so I hope this helps.

Please remember that you will never truly be able to get rid of stretch marks unless you get more invasive treatments like laser. Make your peace with them and move on!

Moisturize your skin

Put on whatever oil or heavy lotion is available for you. I used olive oil when I was 10-12, didn't prevent stretch marks from showing up though and I really hated how extremely oily I was. I then switched to coconut oil, which worked fine until I discovered a lotion for very dry skin that I liked. I then used a body butter by the same cheap brand for a while, switched to BiOil (don't waste your money, it's not worth it and has no effect on stretchmarks, I spent 150$ on this product and it's done nothing) and then switched back to cheap lotions and body butters.

Anything unscented that will keep your skin moisturized will work!

Exfoliate with a pumice stone

I came across this method on Tiktok and didn't think it would work. My stretch marks are painful when I touch them, I avoid touching that broken skin, but it was a completely pain free process for me and helped fade them RAPIDLY.

Here's the pumice stone the creator (@jazz_ejay on Tiktok) recommends:

Since I don't live in the US and I've never seen this product or brand before and I already had a pumice stone, this is the one I use:

Here's how to do this correctly:

  • Only do this ONCE A WEEK. Not more frequently. Pumice stone is a very strong exfoliator.
  • Get your body and the pumice stone wet (DO NOT use a pumice stone on dry skin!!!)
  • Gently exfoliate in circular motions (I use straight motions because I get ingrowns easily but the creator of this "trend" tells you do use circular motions) upwards (towards your heart).
  • Wash off the excess skin that came off
  • Moisturize after

This is the only method I've found that quickly fades stretch marks. I've been moisturizing my entire body every day for 9 years. Stretch marks are not your fault, it's genetics.

Hope this helps anyone out there trying to minimize the appearance of their stretch marks!
