How do I break the touch barrier between me and my crush?

We're pretty comfortable as friends but I feel like there's a little tension cause things get awkward when our friends leave and it's just the two of us. How can I break the touch barrier with him without coming on too strong?

Some of you are suggesting really forward things LOL
So I'm just gonna put this out there that neither of us are looking to have sex or anything like that. By breaking the touch barrier I meant I just wanted to be a little more physically intimate with him than an acquaintance

My suggestions are more subtle than the others. Try giving him goodbye hugs. Get in the habbit of hugging each other. Try to give each other more. Play silly games that involve touching. Armwestling, pattycake, thumb werestling. do silly things that make him touch you like getting he can't lift you or you can't lift him. Get fake annoyed and just go at him to tickle him. When your talking to him in a small group at a table lightly say his name and then touch his arm to get his attention. If your in a hurry grab his hand or look your arm in his and drag him to where you both have to go like late for class.
When you feel more confident just put your arm on him a bit like if your standing be hind him and he is sitting talk with him between you and who your talking to and put your hand on his shoulder. When you say goodbye and he does not go for a hug put your hand on his back and just walk away letting your hand slip off of him.
It is just little moments where your brain can slowly start to feel used to touching him. I went through that with a few of my female friends. Northern them nor I were touchy except for our good bye hugs. So I just took a few times and appropriately touched them more. Now we feel comfortable touching each other even when there is no real need to. People enjoy touching and being touched cause were social beings. Don't worry he won't mind you touching him more.
So what is your two's situation? How long have you known him and how long have you had a crush on him?

Lol we met sometime in October when I walked up to him and asked him to come to my engineering club meet at uni cause he was in my engineering class. I'd actually noticed him like the first week of university cause he was always walking into class late. I'm a freshman and he's a sophomore both of us are the same major lol. Before long I met his friend group and he's been acquainted with some of my friends. Which is how we got here lol I ended up chilling with him and his friends a lot throughout the semester so over break we all ended up meeting up to hang out. As for the crush, at first I only thought he was cute then I ended up crushing on him as I got to know him. He's super considerate and always tries to make sure I'm comfortable so that's why I like him so much haha

Well simply put that I did not go out with her and my exfreind enjoyed manipulating her and hurting me in the process. She got advice from my exfreind. Then when I asked her out she said yes. The day before our date she texted that she just wants to be freinds. For crying out loud, he's a guy, it won't be awkward if you touch him. This problem only exists for guys, you shouldn't have this concert because girls are already seen as more affectionate gender, whereas initiating a touch as a guy will surely be interpreted as something more, well, depending on the kind of touch.
I had a female friend, was my best friend, she used to play around with my hair and poke me all the time, that was normal because she's a girl, either that or i'm a clueless idiot who can't see when a girl likes him.

An example of something i did recently, i was sitting with a girl on a bench and she said the bench was uncomfortable. I said i'd offer you my legs to rest on, but they might be uncomfortable as well. She said 'Let me be the judge of that' and laid on my legs. So in retrospect that was a good way to break the barrier i think, because it's not a direct invitation but at the same time if she wanted a physical contact i would have given her an excuse, while not embarassing myself if she didn't.

So the idea is kind of to either give the other person an excuse to do it, or find an amusing excuse to touch them, from there you can judge if the touch was appreciated.

Oh I understand 100%! The guy I'm looking at dating is just like this! So I just talked to him, told him I'd like to break the touch barrier, obviously it takes time to build trust and confidence etc but communication goes a long way.
