Does my online friend still care about me?

My friend (female) and I used to talk a lot (almost every day). While I've initiated most of our conversations, she has, in a few times, initiated them and even asked to do stuff together (online). And I've made it clear to her that I only see her as a friend (plus, I never flirt with her)

My friend has been acting a bit distant for like a month now. Sometimes she goes online (and comments/posts) without responding to me. Sometimes she waits 2 days to reply. And now, she usually replies only once a day. I'm really sad because sometimes I feel like she cares about me and sometimes, I feel like I'm nothing to her. But she has never said anything mean to me. I just don't feel like a priority to her (at least, not anymore). But she puts efforts in her replies, though.

But the thing is, I know that she is busy with some projects of her own right now. So this might be why she's been so unavailable lately. Plus, the website that we use to chat doesn't really send any pop up notifications, so it might be hard for her to catch up with my messages (especially if she's busy).

This is classic slow fade ghosting, but if she's still giving effort in her responses (ie more than one to two lines of text), then there may be some hope there. However, avoiding you by going online without texting back is a bad sign, I'd do that to someone I no longer enjoyed talking to and where I do not have the heart to truly end it off. To answer if she cares about you, she might, but that's something you may need to ask her. Ask if she still values your friendship. Or, an alternative option is to not reach out to her for a while. Let her come to you when she's absolved from her projects, and if she cares about you, she'll return. If she never does, then you have your answer.

The thing is, when I don't talk as much as usual, she asks me how I'm doing and stuff like that. She can sense when I'm not doing good. And a few weeks ago, she asked me if I wanted to do an activity with her online, etc. And this goes without saying that she's planning to reveal her identity to me (so that we can be "real friends").

So I do feel like she still cares about me to some degrees... I mean, she said that she does care about me (a few weeks ago). But again, actions speak louder than words.. But I don't see why she would want to ghost me all of a sudden. It seems weird... Maybe she's just really busy and only prioritizes her closed ones for the time being. I don't know.

Actions do indeed speak louder, and I say this as someone who has experienced the same thing. If I care about someone, I make time for them. Not even the busiest person in the world would have no time for texting more than once a day, I always find time to text the people I care about no matter how busy I am.

I think for now, the best thing to do is simply wait for her. You have nothing to lose by doing so, but accept the possibility that you might get ghosted, so take her words with a grain of salt for now
