I live down the street from a restaurant. One of the cooks there is really cute and seems really nice. I just have a good vibe. I know he has always had some interest because I would catch him staring when I would look at him via one of the mirrors.
He is still even a tiny bit shy.
I always return his smiles and make good eye contact (as does he). I double take and make sure I greet him specifically and make sure other people catch me looking at him so he knows whatsup.
The thing is it's tricky.
So there is this other waiter who was trying to play cat and mouse with me. I wasn't hugely interested to begin with and I got a bad vibe.
He tries to flirt with me and just keep it cordial.
Also, the entire kitchen and wait staff all watch me and look at me when I go in and sneak glances at me probably because that waiter was running his mouth, and they know I'm single.
My question about stalkery waiter
It's just the whole situation is so fishbowl and I don't know how to get any info about him -- the cook -- while being discreet.
Any tips? Any restaurant staff have any ideas? I don't want to look thirsty and I don't want to hit up a married dude.

Say you want to compliment the cook personally. Or that you like to get his recipe. Then go from there.
No no, it's like an army of them in there.
I don't know how much effort you want to put into this, but you could find out his work hours and just "coincidentally" bump into him in the parking lot, etc.
No there is no parking lot. It's impossible really. There are too many people always watching. If he was really interested he would have found a way.
