If a girl refuses a hug?

It is a deal breaker, right? There's this girl I talk to a lot. We joke and tease each other and she is always smiling and making eye contact although she can be nervous and jumpy around me. A couple of days ago she was having a bad day and I tried to give her a "side hug" but she pulled away like if I was a leper or something. I have never seen hugs as a big deal, I have a lot of female friends who hug me and I don't think anything of it, what was up with that reaction? It made me feel bad and I don't know if I should just stop talking to her because obviously she is repelled by me and maybe she just talks "to be nice" which is something I hate, although she has initiated conversations on her own accord and like I said, she seems nervous but at the same time she seems to enjoy talking to me and have fun, what should I do?

a lot of my friends don't like hugs when their having a bad day. me, personally, I love hugs. unless your person I glare at and absolutely hate secretly. which is not your case. she may be nervous around you because she doesn't want to mes up or say something stupid. its a normal reaction. also she might not have wanted you to see her on a bad day. don't assume.

total bitch, where do you find chicks like this, seriously just find another girl to talk to or w/e, I had a similar experience with a girl who was crying, so now I don't even say anything to her, if she talks to me I might just answer but too bad for her

I know. I mean, we always got along and had fun and its not like I tried to grope her or anything I am not like that. usually the girls are the ones asking me for a hug but whatever. we got into this whole argument about the difference between leprosy and bubonic plague but even that didn't make me feel better.

so you by default automatically assume everyone hugs? and everyone likes hugs? sounds like the problem is on your end. don't make such assumptions.

Well, I am entitled to make such assumptions because I've seen her hug people, therefore, and with some other opinions that I could collect from here, I can be certain that she is in fact repelled.
