What is it with (recently) single mothers getting on dating apps and expecting long term relationships?

Anonymous

I am not going to quickly judge all single mothers out there. However there is a stereotype that she spread her legs for some random irresponsible asshole (usually not using protection) and all of the sudden she wants a “nice guy” as a safety net to come save the day. Funny how nice guys are suddenly much more attractive to women in these scenarios.

However I’ve met a single mother of two young children who was widowed after her husband was killed in a car accident. That is a completely different story so I won’t pass judgment until I know more about what happened.

But blatantly expecting a committed relationship when you have a child under 2 is really asking a lot. Again the situation might be more complex than expected earlier. But really why should you expect another man to come along and commit to you and pick up the slack thanks to your bad decision to get knocked up by some random asshole?

I see this a lot on dating apps. On one end I do feel sorry for the mother to a certain extent but the other end it pissed me off she suddenly had a self revelation that she wants a committed gentlemen. Prior to becoming a mother she never gave these guys the time of day.
