He used to like me, now I like him :/ How can I win him back?

Ok so there is this guy, we are really great friends. Basically we are comfortable on all levels and can tell each other anything. Last year he liked me for around 5 months going into summer, but I didn't like him back. I mean he would hold me by my waist and not let go, flirt with me, he told me I was the only girl he could be himself around, console me when I was crying, get jealous of the guys I had a thing for and keep all my secrets. Now that it's the beginning of the school year I realized, I liked him. My friend decided to tell him this, and she said he seemed torn (as though he still had feelings for me) but said differently. He also went home and took everything into consideration but still decided to stay just friends. I think part of the reason he is reluctant is because there is this one girl in one of his classes that I recall him calling hot that maybe he has hope for and likes her, or that he is insecure. But he honestly does know we have a connection both physically and emotionally. How can I strengthen the feelings that are already there and do I have a chance? Do think he may still like me? Any advice is welcome. My friends also think that if me and him hung out his feelings would become stronger, and may even try to kiss me I feel the same, but I also feel he might not follow through with the plans if we make them. help please? by the way I know I can't force someone to like me, but if he already liked me a lot and possibly still does I can maybe help the process right?

Personally, I'd say hang out with him yourself as you said you can't force someone to like you, but spending time together would at least enable you to see if for yourself and not through your friends if he makes the move to spend time with you, talk with you etc.

Perhaps he does think the other girl is attractive but if he really did like you before the chances are he got tired of waiting for someone that wasn't interested in him? You need to gain his trust and he needs to gain confidance in himself...good luck :)

omg, I've been through the exact same thing and now we aren't even friends anymore:(
BUUT ,
ask him to hangout and do fun things and try to become best friends again,
dont become all serious! just relax, don't worry about it, be yourself and have a good time!
the more and more he trusts you and you get your friendship back, he'll fall inlove with you again, just don't push yourself on him too fast.
Just get to the same level you were at, then take it from there!
