Some men ask the above question or ask if I have a boyfriend.
It's extra uncomfortable since I don't know these men and, most likely, never see them again.

A stranger asking if you live alone is extremely suspect. Trust no one. If he honestly likes you, he wouldn't ask you something like that. The Boyfriend question might be a different story tho. Just always be careful out there

I've been using caution. I say that I don't live alone (it's true) and my housemate is a guy (also true). I feel uncomfortable when men ask me this question.
I hate to read into things, but I've noticed the question usually comes from cab/taxi drivers who come from different countries. Are they just curious or isn't the ask as innocent as it seems?
