Why does my crush and his friends stare at me and my friends?

Gonna try and make this super blunt

He hates me, he avoids and ignores me, he is really tense around me, and his mood will go annoyed when im next to him... even crossing his arms and such.. he even shows interest in another girl.. so why on earth whenever im near him with my friends he and his friends are staring i have a feeling he told his friends to check for him... but what could this mean

today when i was walking down to the left my friend caught him staring
immediatly he turned away to whisper something to his friend.. and he was covering his mouth so we couldnt hear it... do you think his talking about me in a good way or a bad way..(allt he girls know i like him so maybe he found out)
