lol I have no male siblings and I have no idea what you learn about manners and being a gentleman but I'm curious.

say you were hanging out with a girl alone at your place (no sex or anything like that, she's just a friend) and it's past midnight. when she says she has to go, is it standard manners to walk her home? even if the girl doesn't live very far away, like 3 minutes tops? would you give her a hug in front of her house?

this guy is really confusing. I was the girl. he invited me over for dinner and we cooked together and watched a romantic movie together lol. but he hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend and stuff. so I'm probably going to just give up on him.

Some guys, particularly the ones who are as romantic as this guy seems to be, don't feel there's a need for the "will you be my girlfriend" type question. It formalizes what shouldn't be formal. Walking a girl home is good manners, but it's an old enough tradition that's been left by the wayside for the most part, so if he's doing it on his own initiative, it's a clear indication he likes you. The hug adds to that (a kiss more so, but he could be wary of how big a deal a kiss is, either for him or for you). Inviting you over to dinner, cooking together, watching a romantic dinner...how could you not take that as serious interest?

I guess that also makes sense. But how do you know that we're actually in a relationship then? I'm crazy for this guy, but I have no idea if he's this way to other girls, or if he's seeing anyone else on the side. And I refuse to be strung along...

That's exactly the problem with being overly romantic in this day and age. Formally defining a relationship by asking someone to be one's girlfriend/boyfriend is a relatively modern tradition, as suits modern society's acceptance of casually exchanging the favors normally exclusive to a relationship (sex being the big one there). If you need to set that milestone, why not ask him instead of waiting for him to ask you? I'm fairly sure he's not stringing you along.

If he's not showing you any manly interest toward you where you can see that he have the hots for you then maybe you need to look closer at his reference. To let you walk home without escorting you there safely like a gentleman is weak on his part even if he didn't get any, at least do it as a friend. Maybe he was mad because he didn't get any after watching the romantic movie. If he really want you to be his girl he should just ask you. If you really like him, ask him as a friend what kind female he like and that will definitely give you some kind of inside ideal what he like or not like about you.
