He's probably looking at it from the perspective that you are showing that you really do like him. Maybe in past relationships the girl never really cared about whether or not he was hanging out with other girls, and now that you do care, and get slightly jealous, it's a sign to him that you are genuinely interested in him.
There are guys out there who need a bit of reassurance that they aren't wasting their time in getting to know a girl, dating her, and then finding out that she doesn't really care if he's hanging out with a bunch of single/available females. To some, that's just a sign that he could stray and you may not really care. So, perhaps by asking him if he's chillin' with other girls, you're sub-consciously letting him know that you care about him and don't want anything to mess it up.

It sounds like he is clingier to me, especially with the calling several times a day. Honestly, that would piss me off, but some people like that much contact. My two best friends (now married) are that way, and I don't know how they can stand it.
I am assuming that by clingy he means that you are ok with hanging out several times a day, and him calling several times a day.
Me, (and my boyfriend) are much more independent people. We see each other a couple times a week when possible (well, long distance now with school, so twice a month), and talk/ text every other day or so, and are perfectly happy with it.
Some people are the clingier type- that need to have that constant reassurance that the other person is there, some are not- just different personality types.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate by saying that he means you seem to like to be around him and near him a lot, and or with the jealous thing he thinks of that as you clinging to him as your boyfriend, not sure can't really say without knowing what you two are like when you're around each other, I hope this answers your question.
You're both slightly jealous people. You work together and you're around each other all the time.
He's used to having you right where he can keep an eye on you and vice versa.
He could also be masking his apparent clingyness.
"You're so clingy! It's so cute! You should be clingy more!"

actually, there are some men who like "clingy" or "needy " women. just as there are some women who insist on a lot of attention, there are some men who do want to provide it.
frankly it was some fool who made the term "needy" into a negative.
some people can keep it in check, some cant. its all about perspective.
so long as he likes it, go with it.he likes that your jelous,
he ment that by cingy.
