Why do guys stop a girl from finding out he likes her?

3 of his friends told me that he likes me a few months ago. 2 of them are very sure of it, they say he stares at me a lot (which is true, I caught him quite a bit) he has flirted with me a couple times and I have reciprocated the same feelings. But when people bring it up when he’s around me he quickly denies it.

Recently I asked his friend more about it and he said “Huh? when did I say that? I never heard of it.” And I explained it was months ago when he told me and that he probably forgot. He said he’ll ask him for me.

The only reason why I didn’t ask the guy myself is because since he denies it around other people he would most likely deny it to me as well even if it’s true.

And he’s very caring, but I don’t get why his friends make it seem like one minute he likes me then the next they say they never told me to try and confuse me.

His friends don't even remember saying it? Then it's not something they knew for a fact, they were just trying to shove you two together.

Typically, guys don't try to prevent a girl this way. If he says he's not into you, believe him.

If he’s not interested why would he always stare at me and flirt with me (Even sit near me quite a bit)? People say he could be shy but I don't know maybe I should just stay single if the guy is that afraid to tell me how he actually feels. Even his weird friends can fuck off whether if they lied about him liking me or not

He’s just very shy. I was like that before honestly. And sometimes your the one that wants to let the girl know your feelings instead of other guys telling the girl. But that takes time and courage
