Why do most straight men not have a skin care routine/not care about skin care?

I use head and shoulders for my scalp.

I shave using gillette.

I use soap like dr. Squatch and jack black lotion.

Then i use these for my manscape. 😎
"Skin care" is an issue manufactured by the cosmetics industry of which the aim is to milk money out of insecure women- that's what I think about it.
Men haven't done "skin care" for thousands of years and they are just fine, in fact, they often have much better skin with less breakouts because they aren't saturating theirs with bogus chemicals and irritants the way girls are.
I take a shower, use an antiperspirant and a perfume, but I never saw any need for cosmetics.
I grew up in a town that was frigid all year round and not once I had "dry skin" or ever had to use a hand cream or a chapstick.
And yet my friends who nom chapstick like it's cocaine always go around with disgusting dry and tattered lips.
I think it's a total scam, that not only does not work but may even be inducing symptoms on purpose.
I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I’m talking about normal stuff like exfoliating, cleansing, moisturizing which are stuff that’s good on anyone’s skin. And of course companies are gonna try to make money off of it since we live in a money hungry capitalistic society but it shouldn’t be that hard to find your skin type and what kind of skin care is best/suits your skin type. I have dry skin so my focus on my skin care is retaining moisture for example
But I haven't done any exfoliating, cleansing or moisturizing my whole life and my skin is perfectly fine, so why should I start spending money on fixing a problem that clearly doesn't exist?
They do. But their skincare is basic and most skincare is catered to females and most have toxins, chemicals, etc. The other user has the right idea about skin routine. They need to have more skin care for men that don't have all of the fragrances and harsh chemicals, even for women and children. but all of those things are too expensive, not really worth it if you cannot keep up and it can be damaging to our health and skin long term.

I use a product for my skin, but I guess that most guys don't seem to feel the need to use products. Other guys might just find it gay. You asked a good question. Women have make-up and all these products to look better but some men just put some water on their face and they are good to go.
@doopayo
skin usually takes care of itself if you don't over clean and destroy the natural ability
media and adverts drive you to remove all natural care and then replace it with made up stuff which doesn't do as well.
basically they are screwing you for money both ways for detergents then for oils.
best way is to wash regularly but not over clean. sometimes have a shower just as a rinse down don't use strong soaps and just concentrate on pits and groin make sure they don't smell.
don't give in to media and marketing telling you bs. since when has coconut oil been better for hair than natural human oil? just be gentile and kind to your body
Unless it is for medical use, skincare products to beautify yourself is pretty vain. Guys would just do the minimum and they're good to go. Many of the jobs that guys do are dirty, labour intensive and hard, so having "good skin" is the least of their worries. Also, skincare products are marketed toward women and brainwashed as such.
Because for the most part they don't care past looking clean and even then with some thats a stretch most guys don't care for there long term looks hair, beard and clothing is about it
As long as I'm clean, that's all that matters to me. And for a lot of guys I think the minimum is enough.
men naturally they are are the are bread winners it means going out there and it can be rough and we always have to be ready... don't you think it'll be a lot of time wasted if the only make we put gets washed up when trying to do other activity?
lol i mean mostly after shower i do apply body lotion on my body what other skin care routine have to be done?
the most important is for you to have a healthy skin and not to smell bad or anything of that sort all the rest is extra
and your routine might be 5 mins but the pik of the questioner doesn't look like your ordinary 5min routine lol
The picture was just an example, I’m just saying skin care routines in general. I don’t see men doing them in America as much but in places like for example Korea. Men do skin care and maintain their looks which explains why the good majority of Korean men can pass for a 25 year old even when they’re in there 40s and so on
oh really so you do know some korean guys hanh... your regular dudes aren't kpop stars i have some few korean friends and they don't do these things like i said they are all extra to men... i mean you can do it to your partner it would be rather hopefuly he;s the type that willl appreciate you and do it let you do him with pleasure.
so did i lol 😂😂 wait, ill hit some of my friends there lol why won't you do the same let's see what they're actually gonna say in this regard
You think it makes men look more attractive?
Pretty sure most men disagree. Women like men who are men. And that means no creams or unguents or moisturisers.
I can't explain it - it's just a fact.
Men who wear make up, or have a skin care routine, quickly find that girls who were previously attracted to them, are not attracted to them any more.
As with most things about straight men; we don't do it because we don't have to. Women don't get up in our shit about it, so we don't bother.
Most of us don't really care, that's about all there is to it
Because the people they're trying to attract aren't as visually oriented.

I'm sorry to say that is just not true for some people. I just started using some facial cream and had those problems by 20. I never really worm makeup and it's rare. That what you have for a meme is just not true. It is nutrition, those bumps are due to too much sugar intake and toxins trapped in the body. Any man who uses his face with the same cloth and towel for his butt and balls is really disgusting and passing on germs and bacteria. That also means he was never taught proper hygiene. Ladies, do not be with a man who does all of that. You can have a clean cloth and lightly dab, but any man who does that is not hygienic and that is how you can get problems of transmitting STIs.
Its not necessary, skin won't determine whether a guy gets a girlfriend, more like height, muscles/fitness, and facial features.
Do men care about that so much?
Men accept ageing, their identity isn't tied up in appearance.
Sounds more like an American thing. Not true in other countries.
My skin stays nice so I don't really feel the need.
I have naturally very smooth skin.
We don't have time for this stuff.
Gluttony. Like when Homer was sent to Donut Hell.
They do...
Its not necessary?
