The second question is easy; Ashy guy who likes you will avoid eye contact. He'll usually look down or far in the distance. A guy who does not see you as a dating option, will look at you like you were a bank teller or check-out girl... that guy will also speak in a matter-of-fact manner.
As far as the initial question goes; Yes, of course I have, but it's not why one might expect. Men, in general, rarely 'miss' their significant others... we're just not built that way. So when I say that, it's usually just to be agreeable, to avoid making you feel bad / insecure, and to avoid this kind of explanation. That being said, a girl will know when I actually mean it, as it (rightly so) will be a big deal to me. Like after time apart that wasn't that enjoyable. In any other situation, "I miss you" is clearly a fill-in for "I love you". Men and women both do this - as I'm sure you have done it yourself, even if you didn't do it consciously.
Is that a good answer? I try very hard to be as 100% honest and succinct as possible. Other than what I described above, and the occasional "I'm fine", or "No, Sweetheart, you're not getting fat!", I DO NOT lie... especially to women.
I am a shy guy... i can tell you that you can't make differences between did i like you or not? Most of the times when a girl i like will come in front of me i would try to ignore her, will become nervous , kinda behave awkward. I will look at you when you are not looking.
Maybe you will get the feeling that I don't like you but that's not true.
Men do not typically tell someone they miss them if they really don't because we understand that is an initiation of emotion that could be invested more productively into something else within our purpose.
A shy boy will ask you subtle things to still show interest.
An uninterested Man will not.

Mostly I won't say I have missed you if I don't mean it all. But sure I say that I miss the time that we had spent together because I certainly miss the memories I created with certain people at certain point of time. When then view and my view matched which does not anymore due to some personal issues between us or the other person has changed or I have changed.

It probably is hard to tell a shy guy from an uninterested guy. I am shy and I used to pretend that I was not interested. Maybe it was a coping mechanism. I guess if you show a little interest in him he might reciprocate.
u am rather transparent with my feelings. When I fall in love, I tell my partner that I love her. If I miss her, I tell her. And if I say it, I mean it.
