Do most guys dislike texting? Is it true that men see texting as merely functional, practical? And is it true that men don't bond over words at all?

I personally love texting a lot, bc it gives me time to craft a witty response, send memes. Even on busy days, I will find the time / effort to text. But some guys don't look at their phone for days? How is that?

Most guys I know would prefer a phone call over text. Mostly cause texting feels like your talking to an AI. Which feels boring.

Younger guys will be more likely to communicate by text and not dislike it as much. But we are wired for practicality in our lives, including communication. I love it when I get called 'old man' and how I am clueless about how 'everyone' communicates these days. I've communicated with females by passing notes in school, phone, text, DM, dating apps, social media you name it. The differences are so obvious.

Yes I genuinely hate texting. Like for short stuff whatever but if we’re having a full conversation could we please just do a phone call like the amount of time and effort it takes to convey ideas through text versus a phone call is insane.

Yes I can totally relate some convos I prefer over text. I get distracted easily by facial expressions and sometimes I just need to focus on the words

It feels tedious. It’s like writing, but it’s not—and I say this as a writer. People write in weird text speak, using abbreviations like “hmu” and “imma” or “cuz”, and punctuation is usually completely absent. I mean it’s “sort of” English, but not really.

Also, texting really only works if both people are putting in the same effort. If I write you a paragraph and you only say “cool” and give me a 👍 , I’m doing most of the “work” in the communication.

I could go on, like how miscommunication frequently occurs in texting, or how it’s changing our language and capacity for writing—I mean some of the posts I’ve seen on here are almost intelligible to me. They are so full of weird abbreviations and shortened words and have no punctuation at all, so that I’m just left baffled at what the hell they are even trying to say.

It's so odd to me that so many people will throw away a relationship over texting behavior.

@spartan55 I know. I see sooo many posts like this one where people complain about texting in a relationship—not trying to be mean to you @sare09. I think this is partly a generational thing for me. I remember life before texting. It was nice just calling up your girl and seeing how she’s doing. Now it’s just “hmu l8tr babe.”
