Why is my ex reminding me of all the good times?

We’ve reconnected and have been talking for a while. We’ve been getting a long really well and I’m happy how we are talking/reconnecting. We use to live together. But we split as we were on different pages etc, he's been settled and working for a very long time whereas I went to uni then straight into work, just bad timing I guess. Now I’m settled into everything and I want to fix it with him. He originally reached out to me etc.

I feel like we are growing closer and he keeps saying how good it was when we were living together etc, and reminds me of it etc. shows me photos of what our house looks like now. And I miss it too. He says he just wants to take it slowly which I’m happy with but I just get confused when he says how good it was living together but wants to take it slowly/talk. What does it all mean? Does it sound like he wants me to back living together? Or just misses me around the house? What is he tryna do?

Hint: You probably can't go back to the way things were before, because you have both had experiences since then and then you aren't identical to who you were back then. Besides, if you went back to exactly the way things were before, that would inevitably lead to a break up. Maybe you should suggest that things should be even better than they were before.

Thank you, I can see that in him, he really loved me and clearly does still care. I think he’s afraid of getting hurt, if we split up. But there really no one else I’d rather spend my life with other than him. Maybe it’s a case of showing him that?
