My guy friend wanted to hit me in the face?

My guy friend lately has been hitting on me a little. A few days ago he made a small move as if he wanted to hit my cheek. Not in an abusive way though, he wasn't mad or anything like that. He stopped himself in time and then told me "I don't know why but I almost wanted to slap you across the face haha. I just really wanted to." Then he started to awkwardly laugh saying "It just came up in me to do that." I didn't think much off it and laughed aswell, telling him it's okay and that it was just an impuls, he didn't mean it in a bad way anyways. But then a few minutes later slapped me across the face with a stuffed animal that we won at the fair. It wasn't hard or anything like that, more like playful, but it still didn't feel right and it did hurt a little since the stuffed animal had a non-soft part on it. I was a bit shocked and started laughing bc I didn't know what to do. I still was a little irritated by it and did show him that. He knew I was irritated, but this time didn't apologize. It more looked like it turned him on or as if he liked it. I just think it's weird he did that since I did tell him the first time "Haha it's good you stopped yourself, don't hit me hahahah." The rest of the night I didn't really feel comfortable around him aswell. I don't know why. Help haha, why did he do this?
