My boyfriend liked a selfie of a girl he once had sex with. What does this mean?

So last year only after a couple of weeks me and my boyfriend making it official he liked a selfie of a girl he once had sex with. He only liked one picture and then at some point he chose to unfollow her on everything. I explained how it upset me and that I know I’m being insecure. He explained it by saying after the one night stand he just went back to looking at her like a friend if that, he said he didn’t think anything of it when liking her selfie as he stopped thinking of her in that way. Could this be true?

by the way I know I’m incredibly insecure, I experienced a lot of sexual abuse as a child that I’m only just addressing so it’s caused a lot of insecurities and bad body image etc.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a red flag or a problem, but I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes a problem. Everyone is different and you could just be making something out of nothing.

Your past has nothing to do with the present. Insecurity is common and it helps that you are self aware, but don't use your past as a reason/excuse for a present Insecurity. The two of you just became official and it's ok to feel jealous and insecure at this point.

I wouldn't even say it's a sign at all. It's just one picture and you said it yourself he unfollowed after that.
You're paying an awful amount of attention to what he does. You should relax and be okay with giving him space.

Well perhaps he heard your concerns? From what he said though, it seems like he is not really overly concerned about what you think... that he is going to justify to do what he wants to do. Maybe I am reading it wrongly.

It’s hard to know because he only ever liked one picture and never liked another picture of her and then unfollowed her without me asking. But equally why bother liking her picture in the first place if he doesn’t see her that way anymore. I don’t know what to do.

At least he stopped when he got caught. At least he did that. It’s stupid though because he did was create distrust over some urge to investigate his past. Hopefully, this works himself out and you can find that level of trust that you once possessed. You know women fo the same thing too…
