Have any of you guys had a male best friend or best friend, in general, you were close to for many years, very deep bond, but when they started dating their significant other killed off the communication, but after the break up after some time they eventually talk to you again?

If so, please entail your experience and how it all happened.

Lol I'll never be best friends with a male. That's so cringe. It's normal for him to spend time with his girlfriend though. Why are you jealous though. His girlfriend comes before you. If he loves her and sees a future marriage with her, you need to accept it. His girlfriend is always going to come before you as it should be.

Thanks for reading the comments, but again I didn't even give like full context, again thanks for your input but like concepts of marriage even didn't have anything to do with what I said--just pointing out an example. I guess you may be the other commenter down below in the comments or so based on the other comment left, could be wrong, but if you would like "full context" per se and not just snippets I mean I would be happy to give it to you without being misunderstood per se.

Even if the guy isn't going to marry the girl, she is still more important than you to him. She is his priority as it should be. That shouldn't bother you since he's just your friend. You're an adult, you should be more understanding and respectful.

See, this is where I would have wanted to give more perspective, because I haven't explained anything much--the disrespect went both ways, there's still an underlying snippet I didn't mention for a reason because at the end of the day i didn't expect it to "gain attention". Because your last sentiment even applies on the other end to stuff I hadn't mentioned, my fault of course for not furthering my point, just didn't realize this thread would turn into a live spot.

I've had this happen for the same reasons as stated. Same guy multiple times. Due to our relationship and our personalities we generally just pick up like nothing happened. We're more like family and I know that the girlfriend doesn't always work out. He'll come back. With this particular girlfriend, she's starting to try his patience and mine. I'm close to inserting myself back into his life. She needs to smarten up or fork off. I volunteered to step back with this one early on because I thought she would be good for him and I wanted them to solidify their relationship without her having to worry about me. Haven't seen or really spoken to him in years. She has decided for no reason that she hates me and is being possessive. Since I chose to step back out of respect for her I think I'm entitled to my friend back since she can't seem to show me any trust or respect in return. Their relationship is crumbling anyway since I'm not the only one she's acting this way towards. His guy friends and the women on his baseball team get the same disrespect. He knows I'm here when he's done with her bs

Sorry about that @481632 I can understand your feelings, I hope you do some to a resolution of some sort. Hopefully there’s a balance, felt you when you said basically it every friend regardless of gender becomes irrelevant because of burdening feelings from the other party. But, there’s always good that can come out if all this, maybe more balance and happiness even if there’s no friendship, happiness I suppose in one’s self.

Interesting, sorry if that sounds dumb to ask, I’ve never been in a position like this until now. Most of the time guy friends just set the boundaries clear between friends and relationships, so this was new to me. All I can say is he’s usually easy to just manipulate in general, and yeah he has abandonment issues and some traumatic experiences per se. So yeah, he’s been under the impression that he has to hold everyone together and all, so it’s been hard for him I guess, all of the friends left (less than a handful) are distanced for now because of how the situation went. It was more so a control and go type of thing.

Could be that he just prefers spending time with you vs his friends. Can’t say I blame him lol most guys rather spend time with their girlfriend/wife than their friends.

Totally. He was always really shy to chill but we always managed to have a good bond, very close and all. I know my distance with things like this though but yeah I’m sure she felt in a way threatened but I didn’t realize she’d be upset to just cut off the make company too which was odd to me. It’s hard I guess for him he just graduated right but hasn’t really developed his identity yet he tends to do this with people he dates (it’s only three people now he’s dated), but always does it end up being wayward and he falls into ditches more. Like everyone was just saying this felt like a distraction from reality since he’s out there in the real world now.
