Why does he seem interested in person but doesn’t ask to hang out?

So I like this guy. We saw each other last was a little over a month ago. He would be shy and nervous around me. But always willing to help me. I did text him about a test and he did help me, but we never meet just texted and that was two weeks ago. He told me he’s a bad texter and so am I so I didn’t think anything of it, but it just seems weird to me that he did all these things in person but didn’t ask me out. Do I just ask him out or is he just scared of rejection?

You said yourself he's shy and a bad texter- meaning he probably does like you, but doesn't know how to ask you out, or fears you'll say no.

But you're a bad texter too so this might be a problem, lol. Next time you're with him in person, and he helps you with something, anything... offer to go out with him as a thanks. Or ask him if he's free and does he want to hang out sometime-

if he is very shy you need to be the initiative one

but also need to determine is he into you or just being friendly, still if you like him you should try

I say ask him out, if he says no or makes up some excuse, than stop talking to him.
