So we weren't exactly boyfriend and girlfriend. But we're best friends and have been since 2021. And we started having feelings for eachother since last Oct. But things changed and on July 3rd he told me he doesn't think we should pursue anything. And we've kind of just stopped talking since then. I know we weren't actually dating but I'm still heartbroken. I had sent him a message just one short message that said "haha I am not surprised.".. basically before everything went to shit. And it was delivered but he never read it. Then just a few days ago I was looking for someone I needed to text on whatsapp so I scrolled down a bit and doing so I saw his name and I saw he had read my message. It was short, 4 words, not like you need to click on it to read it. I know I'm probably getting my hopes up too much but.. do you think he's starting to miss me? Or regretting the decision he made?
Did he read my message after a week and a half because he is starting to miss me or regret the choice he made?

Also because I had to scroll a few times. So that means he had to of scrolled to find our messages. So he deliberately went looking for our messages.

I think your optimism is causing you to overthink, and that’s ok, you’re hurting right now and don't really want it to be the end. Maybe you should keep things in perspective though, instead of fishing for reasons to hang on or incentive to extend the olive branch. Remember, it was his choice that you shouldn’t progress, so keep that in mind, and focus on healing so that you can move on. Things like this give you false hope and just isn’t healthy.
Yeah you're right. I guess it's pretty pathetic how I'm fishing for reasons that are dumb. Thanks for your opinion.
