Why are guys mean to me but then they say they like me?

Typically what happens is I become acquaintances with a guy and then all of a sudden he is super mean to me (like calling me ugly, that I have a big forehead, that I don’t have an ass. Or they call me annoying and a bitch.. when I insult them back they get super offended. The insulting comes out of the blue and after they do it they go back to normal) Obviously I stop being friends with them, and when I do, his friends or my friends tell me he liked me.. or he will tell me he liked me which is worse because I have to tell him off.

Maybe it’s a male thing or an age thing.. this also didn’t happen once, this has happened three times with three different people who don’t know each other.

Maybe they are joking but it’s still not funny and does he think I will like him if he calls me ugly all of the time?

I can assure you it’s not a “male thing” and while age can be relevant, it’s going to depend on the person and where they are in life and what they do in life.

Most guys know about the whole “bad boy/nice guy” type thing, I’m willing to bet that those guys are trying to be an ass so they don’t come off as a “nice guy”. The fact that they get emotional when you do it back to them tells me that they really are the “nice guy” that are trying to be a “bad boy” thinking that it’s going to work out in their favor.

I did that for about a month after my first breakup before realizing that i viewed it the wrong way.

When you have your shit together (have a job, have plenty of friends, are working on something like lifting weights, having a hobby, and essentially have a life of abundance), you don’t need to act a certain way as a guy. You naturally become the man you should be. If not, then you haven’t been doing it long enough and you’re a scrub.

—————————————————————————What I recommend for you is to ignore them if you ever run into that situation again. Show them that you don’t care, even if you do. Don’t acknowledge it and don’t even say anything back.

Now for the non negotiables, (1) Hit the gym and do hypertrophy training. If you genuinely have no ass, you will grow one in no time and weed out these weak, pathetic guys. You will also grow mental strength and resilience so the recommendation i gave you will be easier to do. I can show you good pages that will give you a good plan and diet of what to do, it will compliment your feminine nature and you won’t look like a man as long as you avoid steroids.

(2) If you don’t already test guys, you should start and I say this as a guy who’s been through many tests. You should still be reasonable and not go too far, but still do it. It’s another way to narrow down who the guy really is. Can he control his emotions? We figured that out when you insulted them back and they got offended. Do they have anything going for them in life or have any value? Talk to another guy right in front of their face and watch their reaction.
Test their masculinity and see if they’re just a pussy in disguise. You don’t want any part of that.

Whether you like this or not, this is honest advice from a male perspective that’s been through it first hand and understands how it works.

This has been the case for me more often than not. It shatters me that young girls are told "Well, he insults you everyday but he is soo into you." Please be careful you're around and don't feel flattered or manipulated by theur stupid comments. Don't internalize the insults, remember you're beautiful as you are!💓
They do that because their brain hasn't fully developed yet and still won't until late 50s or something 😭😂 So don't take then too seriously. If they start to touch you inappropriately, tell your parents or a teacher pls, be safe!

As a guy I mostly agree, though it doesn’t apply to everyone. Based on the content in her question, it’s obvious that these boys are trying to play a game or manipulate themselves to appear as a “bad boy”.
Brains develop until around 25-30 for the most part, it’s more about personal and mental development.
It goes both ways, solution is to work on yourself and set a high standard for yourself.
