Do Men mean it when they say 'I love you' ?

So I have been flirting with my friend and he flirts back. We message, call and meet up regularly. We have held hands, hugged and eye contact is easier than with others (we have ADHD and autism). He calls me his friend but he loves having me in his life and I make him happy. We both haven't had a relationship before.

Tonight he said I love you on a call and put phone down. I was stunned and didn't know if he was joking as he does that when he flirts.

What a man says is almost irrelevant.
What a man does is not.
If you want to know how a man feels about you, notice how he treats you...
... what he says to you (and how he says it)
... what he does for you
... how often he communicates with you
... how often he spends time with you... especially over spending time with others that he could (like his buddies)

Now, many men can be immature - even at my age (60) - but the feelings are still there. So, you have to try to do your best distinguishing what is just "immature behavior" versus genuine "he doesn't really care for me".

A woman who is old enough (and it doesn't have to be that old) will know how her man feels about her without asking him. She'll simply know from his actions.

That's how my girlfriend knew I loved her...
Sadly, that was not enough for her.
