My guy friend teases me but I can’t tell if it means he likes me?

Recently when we’ve been talking, he’ll say stuff like “you’re a dumbie dumb stupid idiot” and he’s 100% joking by the way his tone is and the way he’s saying it, so I know for sure he’s not being mean.

I also had to physically grab his arm and move it one time because he was in the way of my seat and, when I did, he said “ewwww” while laughing with a full faced smile. I can’t tell if he’s just being goofy or is teasing me and if it could mean anything more.

Ah dude, teasing is definitely a thing dudes do when we like a girl sometimes! A few signs it could mean something:

- Calling you names but in a totally jokey, smiley way like he was doing shows he's comfortable with you.

- Pulling away physically even as a joke - that's flirty playfulness. We do that cuz we don't wanna look like we're INTO you into you, ya feel?

- Smiling real big the whole time is a dead giveaway. We don't grin like idiots teasing girls we don't have feels for.

- If he only teases YOU a certain way and not other friends, another sign.

I'd say flirt back next time! See how he reacts if you call him a few names with a smirk or give him a little shove. Watch for stammering or him getting shy - bingo, he's into it.

You could also find an excuse to touch him like on the arm and see if he hesitates or pulls away fast.

My bet is he digs you! If you wanna make a move, maybe tease him back really closely face to face and see how fast he backs off. Worth a try!

Teasing is a pretty good indicator of flirting. Now you are friends with him so you would know best what is normal and what isn't for him. If he is getting flirty I'm guessing you'd be able to tell. Being goofy and teasing are definitely ways to flirt but there are usually more than one sign that someone is flirting. What you have to ask yourself is if it is worth taking a friendship to a relationship? That can destroy a friendship if things go wrong or you misjudge what his actions of teasing are. At the very least it can make things awkward. You can't control what he does tho only what you do and how you respond.

Unfortunately there’s some truth in that, he’s just serving it up in a way that won’t offend you. If I said “gosh you don’t have any brains” in between laughs with a playful push you wouldn’t think I was serious either. If you’re deeply convinced there’s no truth in his words then I’m surprised you’d be friends with someone who feels the need to degrade you at some point in your interactions.
