30 Day Squat Challenge? Questions?

Currently I have no money for equipment or a gym membership and probably won't for a while.

I am skinny (NOT trying to lose weight) but my weight is centered in my butt. I don't really care to make it bigger but I do want to lift it and firm it. I read online that its impossible to lift or firm anything without using weights or equipment, so I'm not sure what to believe because other sources say that squats, lunges, etc can make your butt firmer.

So my question is, could doing the squat challenge without weights as well as doing lunges and other butt exercises produce any real results? I've never used weights before anyway so maybe my body weight will be enough to get some results. If not... could holding two milk jugs help (a full milk jug is eight pounds.)
