There is no easy trick to lose weight, simply put you have to work for it just like everything in life. People get discouraged easily when they don't see the results they want after a few weeks. They also get discouraged when they try something thats difficult and its so hard they can't get through it. This can result in quitting.
The best thing to do is take diet and exercising in steps, thats how i achieved my health goals.
You have a good start now ask yourself what else can you do to improve your diet? Something simple like drink more water, eat more fruits, eat less junk food etc.
Also start with a simple three day per week workout routine. You'll start to notice results and soon enough you will want even more results and you'll have to find new ways to improve!
