Why are my muscles still sore?

4 days ago, I started my first sprint athletics training.

The he next day, my thighs and hamstrings started feeling the muscle stiffness and soreness from exercise.

I thought this was normal however throughout the next few days, the stiffness and aching hasn't gone one bit, it hasn't got better or worse.

I intake a lot of protein and calories that helps with muscle repairing but this is the first time my muscle fibres aren't recovering.

Where has all my protein gone to? Aren't my muscles supposed to absorb them?
Why are my muscles still sore?
