I'm too scared to get contacts, please help?

So I've had glasses since I was in 6th grade and I've been totally fine with them, I am not insecure about them or my appearance with them on at all. However, my junior prom is coming up in April, and my mom (who hates my glasses) says I cannot wear them. Now I have been interested in contacts not just for prom but for my daily life. But I do have a few concerns: do they hurt? How much do they normally cost? how long do they take to arrive? and please don't judge me for this one but can they get stuck behind your eye?

I know I have silly concerns but I've never worn them before and I am concidering it, but I'm just worried that I'll be to scared. Please help

I have been using contacts since I was 18. Like you, I have been using glasses since I turned 11.
I can't tell you anything about the costs because I don't know where you're from but monthly contacts aren't that expensive. You should ask your optometrist about the costs.
Theey don't hurt but they can get dry at times and scratch your eyes but don't worry when you take them out and let them soak again they're absolutely fine and you can wear them for another 10 12 hours straight without any problems. There are also special drops you can use to rehydrate your contacts. There are special kind of contacts you can wear for up to 30 days day in Day Out but I wouldn't recommend them.
They can't get stuck behind your eye and even if they do you can move your eyeball a bit and they'll slip out. I've got them stuck in the corner of my eye a few times but to this day I have always managed to take them out at night. It's only a question of experience I guess. They are very practical for me at least, because I do a lot of swimming and I wear them. But I never let my contacts get wet from water because that's dangerous and your contacts could become a breeding ground for bacteria. You have to take care and follow the instructions and take hygienic precautions for handling your contacts so nothing can happen. I absolutely recommend them to anyone if they have 5 minutes time to put them in and take them out.. and don't worry your optometrist will also tell you how to put them in and take them out and take care of them... you can't put them in backwards because even if you do, they will feel uncomfortable and when you fold them in the middle the edges won't touch so you know they're backwards and you can put them in right. It looks scary when you haven't done it before but after a few times it'll become second nature to you and you can even take them out in your sleep so don't worry everything will be fine.

They don't hurt. Though when you first use them they require a bit of time getting used to, especially the whole putting it on your eye. When I first got them, I think it took me like 15-20 mins putting them in. Now it takes like 5 seconds per eye.

As for how much they cost, it depends if you get disposable ones, fortnightly ones, monthly ones etc. mine are daily disposable ones and cost $140 for 45 pairs.

They've never gotton stuck behind my eye before but a few times I've noticed my vision going blurry only to notice the contact has crunched up into a ball and stuck to the side of my eye. Although all you got to do is take it out and reinsert it.

It's nothing to be worried about. The only thing is, if you don't get daily disposable ones then make sure you do a good cleaning job. It's for this reason exactly I got daily disposable ones because when it comes to the eye I didn't want to take any risks

Contact lenses don't hurt, but first time users will have some discomfort. It will feel like you have something in your eye (because you do) and it will be uncomfortable for the first few months until your eyes get used to them. It doesn't hurt, but it's just... like there's something stuck in your eye.

Contacts aren't expensive. I used to get contacts that were replaced every 3 months, but I only threw them away if they got damaged. Often a pair of contacts would last me almost a year. It's maybe about $200/year - depending on the brand and prescription.

And yes, they can get stuck in your eye. Over the course of 20 years of wearing them, they've gotten stuck by shifting up in my eyeball. Basically they are so far up in the eye, I can barely see the contact lens when I lift my eyelid. Some eyedrops will stop it from sticking to the eyeball and slide back down.

They hurt if you put them on backwards, but otherwise, no. Eyes might get a little watery/dry if you don't blink for a while like if you play an instrument or soem thing. Contacts range in price and how long they take to get there. They could get stuck in your eye, but that's HIGHLY unlikely. It might be difficult getting them in the first time, but it's WORTH IT! I love contacts. I highly recommend them!
