The class is held in a transparent room where lots of people can see.
so what are your thoughts on this?
Is it fine or not?
detailed and thoughtful replies are appreciated
Personally, I think it's very douchey... and also trashy. It just looks kinda dumb in my opinion. The sweating is just an excuse, most of those guys are desperately trying to be all macho and brag about their physique. I think that's pretty pathetic. That's like a millionaire who goes around bragging about his wealth or a very pretty girl who acts all arrogant just because she's pretty.
They can do what they want. There Is much more disrespectful crap going on at a gym than a shredded guy whipping his shirt off.
I’d crackdown on idiots dropping weights for a start.
what else is on your list?
Not wiping equipment down
Screaming trying to lift 75kg
Not flushing the toilets
😝
Not necessary to take shirts off. But it’s not unacceptable. Might not be appropriate gym etiquette and the gym may ask them to replace their clothes. I’ve never seen anyone take their shirt off at the gym except to change shirts quickly or something. Paid athletes never take off their attire while playing a game because it’s not appropriate no matter how hot and sweaty they are.
Douchey. Stop spreading your sweat directly from your body to the machines. Your shirt is designed to provide a barrier between your nasty sweat and surfaces that other people will use. I know that these people aren’t wiping down the things they have touched and contaminated with their gross sweat. Douchey AF behaviour.
The only part of it that bothers me is that they’re leaving their sweat all over the machines. In hot yoga I get it, many of the guys take off their shirts in those classes.
I think there are more etiquette issues I’d like resolved first than this lol
Haha "... leaving their sweat all over the machines..." is exactly why I don't go to gyms, I prefer to workout at home. I wouldn't know if it's proper etiquette or not, but I assumed people took their shirts off at gyms due to commercials
@Idonthaveausername most don’t really, at least not the ones I go to. Might be different in other places.
They have paper towels or wipes to run over machines after you use them but if someone’s got their shirt off that’s a whole lot of extra body to be cleaning up after
I can't say I've seen it much in the gym I go to seeing as it seems to be only middle aged men and women that go there when I'm there 😂 but if I did see this happening I would say it's douchey tbh.

I personally don't care, never have. The gym that I used to go to didn't have too many men taking off their shirts after a workout, but I think I saw a few during my time there. Maybe it's to get attention or cool down after a workout, I don't know. Though, I don't remember any one of those men being really well built or anything so it might've just been to cool down. Maybe.
I would love to but most gyms don't allow it. Although I do it my gym when there's only me and a couple other people. I'm not exactly eye poison to look at without my shirt on so no one complains. I like seeing the striations and vascularity when I'm pumped. That's all hidden when a with a shirt.
Bad form. You leave a t-shirt on because you are sweating. That way you at least uaren't dripping everywhere and getting your sweat on everything.
I’m unsure what to think about it. I’ve never encountered that (thank god) and I dont really go to the gym anymore. I bought one so i have a home gym
basement dweller
tell me something I don't know
Even with fans people can get really sweaty and if they are really working out and get really sweaty it can soak into their shirts and then it gets itchy so I don't really see a problem its not like they have tits like us girls do
I have never seen this before, only when guys are outside but not at the gym.
your thoughts?
Meh.. it's whatever... guys work out with shirts on all the time.
Douchey and unhygienic. If you're sweaty, get clothing designed for it. Don't let your sweat fly all over everything.
I think is acceptable.
I went to this calisthenics outdoor class once, it was a hot day and most guys were without a shirt and let's just say it was a very enjoyable class lol

Pure ecstasy
@ladsin hahahah yeah man :P
I honestly dont care how people look like, but if they're hot I'll sure look coz everyone enjoys some eye candy :P I did forget to mention something in this question though, I kinda forgot about the existence of machines ahahahah so if you're using some, then you should wear a shirt lol I feel not waring one is acceptable if you're doing barbell work, cali or things like that. I've seen it before and didn't mind it at all.
Depends if they are using the equipment, but like the treadmill I don't care.
Age shouldn't matter.
I think it should
That's ageist.
I know
I don't go to the gym so idc what they do in there.
I'm fine with it to be honest I mean guys where I'm from wear stringers tank tops anyway and at my old gym it wasn't uncommon for us to be flat out shirtless sometimes.
That's kind of a douchey thing to do - not seeing it here much (yet), but I'm sure it will catch on...
Nothing wrong with that, it’s just for comfort. A lot of women wear crop tops, so I don’t see anything wrong with it.
Is it being done in the manner of, "hey, everybody, look at me!"?
It never would have crossed my mind that it wasn't just because of the heat.
Well if he has sixpack I don't have a problem. Buuuuut I will probably stop exercising because I'll be to busy checking him out
Super trashy and probably against the rules in most gyms.
I've never paid attention to it. It seems just fine to me.
They're hot... I wished I could strip my top off when I was in the gym...
I meant they get hot and sweaty, not that I find them attractive.
If they're going to lie down or press their backs against something where you're going to go next - pretty gross.
