Am I unusual in that I can't ride a bicycle?

You are probably in the minority but there is nothing wrong with it.
"I can't even stand on one leg, unless I'm holding on to something or leaning against a wall."
Then lean against the wall. Use your full hand to balance. Slowly remove pressure on your hand. VERY gently push just one finger against the wall until you find your balance point. Then try and try again.

Every one of us has some basic thing he/she can't do. It's not that weird.
Just yesterday on the news it said people with balance have better indicators that they will live longer according to doctors... ceteris Paribas (health wise... OBVIOUSLY a car crash can kill any healthy person)...
Try the test balancing on one leg.. this is what they said to do.

I must I find it strange when people cannot, it’s like something I have done since 4 years led ish.
however I have friends that either cannot or get scared while out riding.

Riding bike is bit hsrder than standing on one leg.
If u can't stand on 1 leg i think something might be off. Pls try and stand on 1 leg every day.
It would improve your brain connections, if it doesn't in month time improve then im sorrry but you probably have something hapening. -
I had a brilliant idea flash through my mind I can help you with that if you ride me while I lay on the floor you'll be less far for you to fall dizzy spend enough time at it I'm sure you'll be able to balance with the best of them LOL to try to give advice

I had a colleague that did not know how to ride a bike. She grew up in Haiti and never had a bike. I spent a morning at her house trying to teach her how to ride a bike. Once she got the hang of it she learned pretty quick.

I also have a hard time on bikes, plus the area I live in isn’t super well suited to bike travel, there’s a lot of places you have to be on the road because there’s either no sidewalk, or it’s a craggy wretched sidewalk

It could be a balance issue... like people that have ear infections have.
