Who takes carbamazepine and how long did it take to adjust?

I’m so groggy I can’t work and I can’t drive much - however I also can’t work because I was fired prior to being prescribed this medication, which I need for a facial nerve condition that I’ve been having to deal with.
How long does the medication take to smooth out in your body? Next week I have to double the dose and then the week after that I’ll be on a full triple dose and that is supposed to be the max dose needed for this condition that I have now. But I know other people take this medication for other things as well so I figured I’d ask here because Google just gives me too much stuff to click on and I’m looking for a complete answer from somebody that’s experienced this firsthand

May I ask why did the doctor prescribe this to you? Do you have seizures, nerve pain, or to treat bipolar disorder? There are lots and lots of other drugs you can take for all of these conditions. Please ring your doctor and explain that this drug is affecting your ability to support yourself. Demand to be placed on a different medication. I have had to do it with certain meds and they don't mind either way. Best wishes to you.

It’s for a facial nerve condition called trigeminal neuralgia that an ER doctor diagnosed me with an prescribe the medication, however I do not have a family physician so I’m unable to follow up with any physician to make sure that this medication is in fact working but the headaches I had prior to taking this medication were so crippling that I will keep this medication in my system, I just need some medical support during this adjustment or to hear from other people that the adjustment is temporary. Doctors hand out medication and kick you out with a pamphlet that’s what our healthcare system is right now

I am very familiar with TN. I have EDS and many have TN. My recommendation is to find a pain management doctor and or neurologist and get Botox Injections. I get them every 12 weeks for migraines. They can also do nerve blocks. Please do yourself a favor and pursue this treatment.

I had seizures from age 11 to 19 and had my last very mild seizure at age 24, I grew out of it and my intelligence was restored with meditation.

Oh wow! I’ve had my share of them too one slapped me into a coma and I also grew out of them. But but but but I take this now for a facial nerve condition that’s neuropathic. But the carbamazepine how was that to adjust?

I don’t think I had any side effects from it, only benefits.
