I'm going to ask a challenging question...

Was talking to a friend, who is well read in the subject of finance, and who posed this to me:

1. The population of whole of Europe is 600 million.

2. The population of America is 300 million.

Now that's a combined population of one billion approximately, of the white people.

3. The population of China is alone 1.3 billion.

4. The population of India is alone 1.2 billion.

5. This is excluding all the other colored races like Indonesia, Brazil, Nigeria. So, China and India alone outnumbers the combined number of white people by a factor of 2-3.

So, if you think the olympics is unfair, how do you think the white people are going to compete in 50yrs? And we pretend as if America isn't the greatest doping country in the world when it comes to olympics already (yeah cheap shot there I love it).

Especially if you take into consideration the fragmented and dishevelled politico-economic state Europe is in; if you consider that in Britain basically everyone is on crutches and abusing social welfare, and turning itself into a little communist state whilst China into a capitalist powerhouse; if you consider that USA has been stalling whilst others are catching up.

Not much challenge in this. Simple statistics.

What you need to think through is your race concept. What constitutes a "race" in this way of splitting up the world. The olympics are a competition between athletes from different political units - states, that have little correlation to "race" beyond a statistical trend.

And should there really be any meaning to comparing the results of these states, they ought to be political regions of roughly equal sizes. As you say, china is about 1/4 or the world population alone. All the nations of Europe and the Americas together are the same population as china alone, roughly.

The results and winners in the olympics are more a result of economy and resources available to spend on finding and training the best talent within a region, much more than anything else.

Hmm also, when you consider that for example, team USA basketball players are basically all Afro-American except Kevin Love. In this sense USA medals don't reflect race performance either.

Take Denmark as an example. A population of 5 million people, and they have 9 medals so far. China with 1.4 billion people have 80 medals. Denmark has 1.8 medals per million, china has 0.06 medals per million. The US has 0.4 medals per million.

Yeah that's my point too - that's why the olympics is unfair - try explaining that to the girls above.

However, the counter argument is that each country can only have a quota of players in the olympics team.

That said, what what I read olympics performece based on 3 factors:

1. Population size of the country.

2. How much money it has.

3. Whether it is a host nation (because the OCOGS or whatever the olympic family is reaped in corruption).

Not really unfair. It is just a function of availability of talent, and the availability of resources to train the talent to compete in the world elite. The resources can either come mainly from wealth (like denmark) or mainly political channeling of resource (like china), but it is the same thing. Spending resources to help the talent achieve.

Not much can change that. And it is limited how much corruption can change the results - the fastest runner will still win.

Ok maybe for track events, I agree. But swimming. How corrupt is swimming? can you tell me the best swimmer is not the best doper?

What about boxing. It is definitely fixed.

Corruption and doping are different things. I make no claims about the doping free purity of the athletes. But it is hard to fake being the first to crossing the finishing line. it is also hard to fake having the most goals or lifting the heaviest weights. I doubt corruption, meaning money for results, is prevalent in the olympic organisation. (Money for power, or money for position on the other hand.)

The olympics are somewhat fair but obviously if the concept was to get as many medals for each country and whoever won got to demolish other countries then fine it is unfair because there are lots of countries that will not get even 10 medals let alone any gold because their population is so small. Actually you're right. I'm sorry I take it back. This post is solely based on White people because I obsess over them. I love them. And I hate them. So they occupy this post. I hate to say it but ever since the renaissance and the industrial revolution, all I read about is how great the White folks are and how enslaved the rest of the world is.
