Suppose you werent expecting them to contact you, but you didn't have a hostile type of break-up that left bad memories or resentment.
When an ex contacts you from 'out of the blue', after a long period of lost contact, how do you react?
It's weird that you ask this question because I just contacted my ex out of the blue a few days ago and he was worried that something was wrong until I told him why I was contacting him.
The times that an ex has contacted me it has been different depending on the circumstance and length of time since we last spoke. Sometimes annoyed, sometimes glad to hear from them in a friendly way not because I want to get involved with them again.

I see nothing wrong with talking to an ex. Most of my exes I am on friendly terms with for the most part or the bad feelings have passed and I feel I can talk to them civily. Me getting over them helps me to be at peace with them unless the breakup is fairly new then I might be a little teed off at them still. Also if they can be nice to me then I will be nice back to them

I usually stay on good terms with exes, so as long as it wasn't a volatile breakup, I'd be interested in hearing what they want, and I'd probably be really happy to hear from them again.
Connections don't just disappear - sometimes it's worth getting close to someone again after some time.
Kind of a mix of B and C, but mostly C. I typically don't like hearing from exes, as it brings up old emotions and old memories. The past is the past; what's done is done. Unless there's some imminent issue that only I can help them with, I'd rather not hear from them again, no matter how we left things. I know that sounds cold, but it's also logical.

i would wonder why they had decided to contact me after all this time , it would seem a bit off and lead to me doing a lot of wondering what was going on. definity a lot of questions

It depends on how I feel about them. If it didn't end well and I really am not fond of them, I won't react kindly to them talking to me.
If a long time has passed and I don't care too much, then I'll talk again. -
time heals all wounds as they say, but if it can't be avoided talking to them can be hard but we can at least be civil with them..who knows time and distance can also change a person

I said A because at least from my point of view I've never had a bad breakup before. I like hearing from an old ex and just talking about "what's new" sort of things.

Hmm, I wouldn't want to hear from them again. Unless, we left on a REALLY good note and/or someone I LOVE a lot.
I normally would not answer to it. - No contact means no contact in ANY kind of form. -
I would be shocked... it happened before to me, and they would talk to me sometimes they miss me *shurgs* not always the same with everyone
