Why does he want to wait years later to get married?

So I thought we thought about getting married like next year. Now he's saying 2-3 years from now he said he wants to get his money situation right before we can move forward. He's a firefighter and makes enough a month. I'm a disabled vet and I make enough a month to cover bills. He has thousands saved. I'm about to start working soon nothing to irritate my disabilities and I'm about to go back to school. I'm ready to get married, we hadn't even set a date and we've been engaged for a year. He wants to wait until dogecoin to pop off now he needs to get his mind right.

I typically say to people thinking about marriage and/or kids. To wait until they’ve been in a relationship with each other for 7+ years. Before tying the knot or having kids so they can truly get to know their partner. Less likely to end up divorced a few years after marriage that way.

I'm 24 almost 25 he's 26 going on 27 in the next month. He said we aren't equals and the amount I make isn't enough. We both want kids but not until our 30's

We both live with our parents he makes 50k a year I'm making 18k. He said the amount I make isn't enough and I need to be more if an asset. Discrediting everything else I've done.
