What does a guy mean when he says "we should mess around"?

So a guy I just met (he was asking around about me before I officially met him) seems to be really interested in me and he's nice and everything and seems to be interested in being in a relationship, but I don't know that much about him just yet. We were texting and he suddenly brings up "are you a virgin?" and I said yes why? and he replies with "just asking we should mess around haha" so what exactly does "mess around" mean?

I replied with (my friend advised) "wth do you mean by that?" but its been almost an entire day and he won't repond, and I feel awkward to text him anything if he won't even answr that..

Depending who the guy is and how much you know about him you may know better, but I would say he probably just wants to hang out. I don't know why he would ask if you're a virgin, maybe he's nervous about potentially going out with someone who is not a virgin, but if you're worried about it just make sure you hang out with other friends around and/or in very public place. Good Luck and don't do anything you don't really want to do or end up with the consequences for.

Most likely it means he wants to bone you, since oh, I don't know...he asked if you have ever had sex before.

It means he wants to fool around with you.

And really I'd caution against getting really involved unless you're okay with the possibility that ALL he wants is to mess around. Because that makes it sound like he's not interested in a relationship, he's just interested in having sex with you.
