My girlfriend ALWAYS says thankyou after I compliment her, why does she do this?

It just seems a little odd to always make a point of saying thank you. i mean i always either joke it off or pay her a smile or similar

Maybe she says it out of embarrassement, i have a friend who does the same, she said she doesn't take compliments very well, and gets embarrassed easily whenever someone compliments her,
Or she could just be a little over polite

When I do it, it's for two reasons: Most of the time I'm embarrassed for no other reason than not being used to compliments. The other reason is that I genuinely want to tell him I am grateful to him giving me the compliment :).
