If a guy gets jealous does it mean he cares?

So my bf got super angry because he looked over my phone and messages and saw that one of my friends messaged me but I never texted him back. Does that mean he cares about our relationship or na?

It means he feels a sense of ownership, a sense that it is his right, and his rights are being trampled by someone else.

Guys can actually get jealous about the actions surrounding people they aren't even dating. They can can possessive and controlling over girls that they are friends with, or girls they have a crush on, even if they are not the boyfriend.

A little jealousy is normal. It takes a lot for people to work through the issues surrounding jealousy. So you should always expect a little bit. Anger, however, is not normal. And is a bad sign. That doesn't mean that he cares for YOU, it means he cares for HIM. He isn't concerned about what may make you happy, he cares about locking down your ability to have a proper social life, about having you unable to leave him because you can never find someone better. That isn't care in the loving sense. That is control, and that is about caring about his own insecurities first and foremost.
