@Lionman95 there's really no tangible evidence for that. i know they make that claim using small scale studies. they claim that your risk of getting an infection in the first place is reduced by 95%. which sounds great but in "real numbers", your chance is reduced from 0.45 to 0.05 or something ridiculously small like that. it's the classical statistical double speak that they use for some quesitonable nutritional supplements that are supposed to drop your risk of having a heart attack with old age.
@Lionman95 the claim that people have milder symptoms when they get an infection anyway is just that. a claim. if you have found studies actually backing that up, i'd be very interested. would be happy if you could share that with me. but please spare me some news article cause those are 99% bullshit these days.
The protection against the variant for the Pfizer vaccine is 88 percent. In my state, breakthrough cases are occuring in 15 percent of vaccinated individuals. But fully vaccinated are only 34 percent of the public.
And even IF vaccinated, if you are a frontline worker and are being re-exposed daily to dozens of unvaccinated people, that is also a giant risk factor.
I'm sorry, for Louisiana, 90 percent of the cases of Covid have occured for the unvaccinated. 84 percent of those people account for Covid deaths. 90 percent of the hospitalized patients are unvaccinated. These are the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals statistics. These may differ state to state. I'm giving you MY state. We have the highest infection rate IN THE WORLD today. So there's your statistics. Maybe you state is doing better. But that doesn't mean it's SAFE.
@Screenwriter did you read my explanation how that high percentage arises? it reduces your total risk of infection from 0,45% to 0,05%, and if you take the relative difference between those 2, that's where the 88% comes from. your total risk reduction is pretty much negligible, as your risk is extremely low as is.
And though there are no "statistical" studies about the vaccinated having milder symptoms, this is usually the case with people who have flu shots and has been my personal experience the three or four times I can recall having the flu since I've been vaccinated against it. (since 1986) Illness length is shorter and recovery quicker. People vaccinated against measles and other illnesses who get breakthrough cases usually have these experiences. Look at studies for measles, chickenpox, smallpox and polio. Everyone getting those vaccines aren't 100 percent protected either. But those viruses have been eradicated in the U. S. through childhood vaccination. Smallpox is eradiated worldwide. Polio has been eradicated in the US and Europe.
Though Covid is still new, it has now been more than a year since the first vaccine and it will no longer need emergency FDA use clearance in a few weeks.
This will likely mean more workplaces will require vaccination for continued employment, especially for those who interact with a public who continue to avoid vaccination. And there is no way to truly contain this virus or variants of it unless everyone gets vaccinated.
@Screenwriter for all i know, this one vaccine has already killed more people in less than a year than all other vaccines in the last 15 years. This FDA and who shit has nothing to do with health or science anymore just money and politics and people really believe it's about their health, which I can't understand.
Most of the people who are dead did not have a vaccine. The total deaths exceed the number of deaths from the Civil War or the deaths from WWII. It took four years for those deaths to accrue from those wars.
We're talking about an exceptional death rate from a communicable illness in 18 months. The vaccine has only been widely available since Feb. 2021. Most of the deaths have not occured in the past five months, so what you're saying is wrong.
Ninety percent of the people on ventilators, 90 percent of new cases and 84 percent of all deaths from July 26 to Aug 8 are to UNVACCINATED PEOPLE.
These statistics speak for themselves. You can think erroneously all you want and make suppositions that since Feb. 2021 the vaccine has killed everyone who's died. But it's not true. It's a feeling you have due to mistrust and your thinking that the government is out to get us.
WIthout "us" there is no government. It's "We the People." Not "us" and "them." If you don't like how the government is run, do some grassroots organizing and run for local offices with your eye on Congress and the Senate.
f you don't like how things are run, run for change.
My health, and my son's health and everyone I know has avoided serious illnesses due to the vaccines we've had since childhood. You're a beneficiary of those same vaccines. This is a messenger Rna vaccine and it was developed quickly because it's a different kind of vaccine that doesn't use attentuated viruses or anything LIVE that COULD kill you. It uses YOUR immune system to fight the virus.
Because you don't understand HOW it works, you ignorantly say, though it's been tested on hundreds of thousands of people BEFORE IT WAS USED, and it's been given to 166 million people with only minor issues, usually linked to pre-existing health issues, that it's killed 600,000 people.
It hasn't. A VIRUS has. And if people don't utilize the ONLY successful tool we have to fight the virus, it will continue to sicken and kill millions more.
@Screenwriter if you think you can reduce the impact or straight up eliminate corona, then why is flu still a thing that we have had vaccines for for decades? The answer is animal reservoirs. We can't eliminate the flu or corona. We can protect the elderly with vaccines. Though getting vaccines in the middle of a pandemic is borderline suicide. Cause in the middle of a pandemic, the risk of infection is high and if you get infected in close proximity to getting the vaccine that's actually very dangerous. That's why you never get a flu shot right inside a flu season. And even then, it only was ever meant to protect people 60+, not Younger ones, as younger ones only very rarely ja e serious cases. So rarely that it doesn't warrant taking this experimental vaccine that already killed 40k people in the us alone according to the CDC. Do what you want I'm not gonna support suicidal measures. I prefer staying healthy.
I've read the CDC reports. There are a suspected 6,400 cases of death ASSOCIATED with the corona vaccine. Not 40,000. I JUST read this on their website. There are 143 Gillain-Barre' cases and 780 associations with periocardiac inflammations. These after 350,000,000 doses of the vaccine. .0019 percent chances of any OTHER illnessnesses possibly occuring due to the vaccine.
The blood clot issue has been limited to women 18 to 49. No men have had blood clots. It appears to be associated with birth control pill/inserts use. Those medicines cause blood clots WITHOUT any vaccine adminsitration. I know. I used them.
The Gillain-Barre' syndrome only occurred in males 50 and older and, again, this is the group this syndrome occurs in normally. The vaccine may increase THAT risk.
@Screenwriter the cdc also has the science for the lack of effectiveness of the mask and the proof that we can not"eradicate" corona with a vaccine due to animal reservoirs, much like the flu... but they ignore that. i don't trust the cdc or who anymore. you can do that if you want.
we still measure covid death as "anyone who died within 3 months after they had a positive pcr test" while we stop associating a death to the vaccine if it's only 3 weeks after... and even then they scrutinize it very closely to see if they actually can possibly have died "to" the vaccine, which is not done with covid. if someone had a positive test, they end up on the statistic. there's a massive statistical bias in favor of the vaccine and against covid.
The periodcardial risk of inflammation is being studied, but that has not been determined to be a clearly cause and effect risk. They can't discover WHY it's happening.
Lastly, you mention the problem with the flu vaccine. The flu is still a thing and has been impossible to eradicate BECAUSE new variants appear every flu season.
What the flu and covid vaccines do is stop variants from infecting people so those variants don't get out into the public and lessen a current vaccine's efficacy. The longer people are NOT vaccinated the longer the virus has to alter its DNA and change so much that the original vaccine will no longer be effective against it.
This is why flu vaccines have been less effective. Because SO FEW PEOPLE GET THEM. The variants are out there and NEW VARIANTS DEVELOP during each flu season. Only vaccination can wipe out these viruses but again, they will only work if 75 percent of the population gets vaccinated.
Flu vaccine doesn't only help older people. I've been getting the vaccine since I was 29. It works. I've been sick fewer than four times in 30 odd years.
And Covid is raging, not in older people, who are between 66 and 80 percent vaccinated, but in very young children and in the 18 to 59 groups: the groups most likely to eschew vaccination.
The vaccine for the very young is being developed and the emergency use proscription will be dropped by mid September. So it will no longer be an "experimental" vaccine.
If people had initially gotten vaccines instead of waiting until there are five or six variants to challenge the current vaccine and make it less effectivem we would be in a completely different situation.
There would be no "surge."
But, look, you do what you like. It is pointless to argue science. The fact that you say you've read the CDC information and there's 40,000 deaths associated with Covid and there is not even a sixth of that number reported, shows you're discussing rumor and hearsay, not CDC facts.
Hopefully enough people will get vaccinated so that this illness is contained and possibly eliminated.
@Screenwriter look at the numbers. and compare the numbers to last years. not the total numbers. you have to add up 3 previous flu waves to compare, cause that's how long they've been adding up. there's no excess mortality at all. not abonormally many peope dying. that's a fact they are sweeping under the rug even though it is public...
no vaccines work, it's smart to wait... but everyone I know has already had the vaccine like months ago, where do you live where there isn't the vaccine?
@Djaay what shot? The mRNA vaccine from pfizer or moderna? Or the oldschool vaccine from astrazenica? All three are extremely safe and effective vaccines for covid. Countries with the highest vaccination rates have seen their cases drop to almost zero.
@Djaay lol, well I can tell you are not a scientist. There are no hormones in any of those three vaccines. The astrazenica vaccine is part of the virus itself so is what you describe, very old school technology. The mRNA ones are instructions for your body to build a spike protein from the virus which works even better than the old school ones.

yes you are. cause it looks very much like you can still get infected and sick with a vaccine anyway...
Yes but the risk of having a stronger infection is lower being vaccined.

Yes, it's pretty absurd.
Vaccinated people are still catching COVID just so you know.
I don’t really think so, as long as it also applies to him being fully vaccinated.
The simple fact of the matter is... ITS NOT A VACCINE anyway. You can't regulate someone in hopes of regulating the germs.
Leave him for a few weeks
By the end he'll be either begging you to come back or he'll be an issue from your past best forgotten about
No, it's not. Have you explained to him everything that you explained to us? If not, please do.
No, you are just being cautious and that's the right thing to do.
No not at all. Your health is more valuable and important then him wanting to drink
Would you let him work as a cop or fireman or any job that has a higher mortality rate at his age bracket than COVID does?
Entirely selfish. It's his birthday
Completely irrational
No, sounds like he’s the selfish one
Dump him, what s piece of trash
Two SJW's living together that sucks
Very selfish
You sound ridiculous
Nah. :)
yeah, you are
