Would you let it affect your relationship if your partner’s parents didn't like you?

I was the one who ended things with my last ex and although i liked him a lot (still do), when i look back and think about how i always felt like his parents didn’t want me for their son- it makes me feel a whole lot better. It was never literally said to my face that they didn't like me, but i have my reasons (to be fair for them i over analyze things).

It wasn't the main thing that made me want to break up with him but it was something that bothered me. I didn't let it affect my relationship with him but it affected me, didn't say anything to my now ex boyfriend at that time though.
