What's like to lose your partner while you're madly in love with them?

I wonder how that must feels. You're madly in love with them, you guys are in the happinest moment in the relationship and it's interrupted by their sudden death. Two years ago, one of my friends lost her long-term boyfriend out of Covid. He was only 24. Both were each other's first.

My father lost my mother (his wife) shortly after giving birth to me. We'll never know how their marriage would've been like today. Till this day, he never dated anyone else.

What's it like to literally lose them while you're madly in love? They got taken away so soon.

Sometimes I wonder how that feels like, when they get taken away during the ''honeymoon'' stage where it's all beautiful moments and you're in love with them.

I would say its not as hard as them leaving you. Countless people have told me that divorce, and betrayal are much harder than death. I can say I agree from experience. Death and divorce are the top 2 most stressful life events. But divorce, especially a betrayal one, has the added pain of killing you as well. It degrades and saps ones self worth and belief in a happy life.

I talked a few years ago to a female friend who's x husband died shortly after they divorced due to an illness. Its hard to fathom what she was thinking in all that emotion. But guilt was a clear one.

So yes in both cases the person will need a whole lot of support. I know how much I longed for it in my trial. Would have defiantly been appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear about your traumatic trial. That really sucks. There is really no guarantee that a relaitonship will work out. The ideal if for a relationship to progress, usually leading to marriage and both growing old together.
Even though at least by death, you know nothing could've been done in that case and you got to accept not knowing how the relationship/marriage would've been like. My father never recovered from that loss. It's been many years since his friends and family member have been trying to talk him into dating again. He won't. He never gone out on a single date.

@Wsx2wsx2ws. He got sick and she bounced, this happens very often. Women are merciless when men have any human weakness. Also, don't be fooled by her 'guilt".. women feel shame from outside pressure but they rarely feel guilty. Women are brutal.

@liliesxoxo ya it did suck but I learned things about myself that I am very happy to have learned. Some real strengths and some weaknesses I needed to know about.
As for your dad it will of course take a lot of time for him to heal. Statistically widows do far better then widowers. This is mainly due to women being more inter connected.

@krakenattackin the x husband didn't get sick till well after they divorced. I don't know the reason for their brake up however. She was always a kind hard working and considerit person as far as I had ever seen. But have to agree with both of you, you never know.

I have been dumped in a very cruel and sudden way by somebody I was totally in love with. It was crushing. I cannot imagine having somebody die on me.

yeah my father never recovered from the loss. My other family members and his friends have been trying to convince him to start dating again. He won't.

I was referring to a partner actually dying (literally) while you're still in love... you never get to know what the relationship would've been like.
