Is it rare for the girl to not be ready to commit?

This might sound embarrassing but yes, several years ago I got rejected by a girlfriend. We were 22 and I was ready to take the plunge. That's the only girl I ever felt deeply for, trusted.

I had fully opened the gate. All that was needed was her affirmative answer, her to say yes. She declined it.

Since many girls are always asking when are we going to commit, don't like wasting their time... is what happened to me a rare case? If it's the girl not ready to commit to you, is that rare?

I was a late bloomer myself. I was busy with horses and life. Relationships sounded like a solid fence to me, wasn’t interested until I met someone who knocked me flat, without effort.

Once in a while I wonder what I did wrong for her to say no to my question. At the time we were dating for 3 years and I was supposedly the love of her life. I understand the frustration and hurt many women feel when their man promises them the moon and the stars but won't commit and ask the question.
It was the opposite for me. I was the love of her life but she still said no. Needless to say, I was still crushed.

Yeah it does hurts. I've been single for a while, still recovering but plan on getting back to dating soon. Hopefully I'll find the right girl that will one day say yes. This time, the only difference is I will have a prior discussion the future and kids to see if she's on the same page before asking. I won't make the same mistake of asking it by surprise and assume she'll say yes.
I was young and naive back then. If she had said yes then obviously I would've already been a husband and father of probably 2 kids by now.

It’s always best to be open and talk with one another. Never hurts to ask questions. I would avoid people who are closed up.

At the time we were dating for 3 years. I felt that was a good time to know if you want to spend your life with someone, have a family with them. I had dealt with rejections before but this one was different. It felt like the ultimate rejection. It was like my world collapsed when she said no to my question.

yeah while many women are always wondering when is their man going to commit, she had the opportunity with me right there (I had my gate full open; willing to risk it all) and she said no to that. Wow... I can't deny being hurt over the rejection though. It felt like an ultimate rejection to me.
