If a man is only bringing flowers and gifts after he cheats or is a jerk, isn't that already insincere?

I've seen this happening in both movies and in real life:

The relationship is over because either he cheated or was a jerk and all of the sudden, he shows up with flowers or gifts, hoping to win her back. Isn't that already insincere? Gifts are suppose to be during your happy moments (at any random date, not necessarily on her b-day nor Valentine's Day, any day), because it's a gesture of love... not because you're trying to win the girl back.

Honestly that wouldn't impress me at all. It would be like an insult. He still cheated or was a jerk. Why would I suddenly want his gifts? Why didn't he gave those gifts during happy moments when there was no issue in the relationship, when she trusted him?

Only if the other is unforgiving. If that is her attitude then get the F on. It’s not healthy for anyone involved. One has to start somewhere. Lots of people could care less…least has some sort of conscience

I'm not a forgiving woman when it comes to cheating. If hypothetically speaking I were to magically forgive, then the actions I would want is him to find out why he cheated and work on that through counseling, not bringing me gifts as a way to erase it all and pretend it didn't happen.
Does what gifts have to do with your cheating or jerky behavior?

For being a jerk, I would want him to work on the issues and not repeat the same behavior over and over. Otherwise bringing gifts ever single time he's a jerk, would seem like cheap words right there.
