If You Ever Get A Chance To Go Back To Your Ex, Would You? If Yes, Why? If No, Why Not?

So I answered a question that made me think about my own ex and whether or not we may ever end up back together. Hence why I'm on here asking all y'all about it as well lol.

Truth be told, I'd be lying if I said no part of me loves her anymore. Because if you loved someone and you had memories with them, those memories always leave an imprint on your heart and a small piece of you still wants them. That being said, you might still not wanna be with them because of multiple reasons, and that's how it is for me too.

She was a bad partner, lowkey disloyal at times, never really cared about me, was a selfish lover and more things I couldn't care less to mention.

So for me, she can leave and never come back. What about you guys? Let me know your thoughts.

I 100% would not, but I would maybe want to if that makes sense. I tried to just be friends with her because her family wouldn't accept my religious beliefs (or lackthereof) and career path, and she just let them tell her what to do all the time (even her future career as a doctor) even though she was 18 at the time and in college, while also not standing up to her mother and uncle when they objected to my beliefs. Her dad molesting her and her sister when they were kids and then leaving their mother for a gay man was a huge part of how things turned uut that way, but it didn't help that some of her exes had raped her while others were simps. So she has a lot of issues to work through that I don't need in my life again.

But after she begged me to not stop seeing her and then a couple weeks later tried to ghost me after saying she "needed space," I would love another conversation (now 7 years after it happened) to get some closer on why things happened how they did. She's also sadly overweight, so I have no more interest in her (even though she was gorgeous back then). And I'm losing my hair, so she probably wouldn't like me anymore anyway.

I would not likely go back to an ex. Unless both of us have made significant changes to behaviors and learned greater depths of acceptance, all or at least some of the same issues that caused the breakup are almost certainly going to continue to be factors with the same inevitable result.
Most people who go back to an ex do so not because the necessary changes have been made, but because they’re either afraid of being alone or uncomfortable with it. So they choose the devil they know over the one they don’t.

Good answer, and yes. A lot of the answers here from girls especially were pointing to the same thing, and the reason they said they'd go back to their toxic ex is because they're afraid they'll never find "love" again, no one would love them the same way and/or they still love them but can't admit it. It's sad, really.

here…we are taught to call our ex as bad for so many reasons why to never go back.
In reality.. it means they refuse to learn and hope the next one will work out. Often, if we don’t leanr, chances are, the next one may still not work out or even going back to same person.

after my gag boyfriend broke up with me, I learned a lot about what happened to him.
we got back…he was still struggling with certain issues…we did fight.. even 3-4 months before we got married…he was still suffering from the issues he had and was having a hard time of letting go of the past.

once he let go of his last…we are good and he is hapoier than ever.

I hope those whose relationships didn’t work out, truly try to understand themselves and the other…because it takes two.

Yes. I still love him even though I royally fucked up. I thought he was trying to move on and be happy but I was so wrong… and then I went and fucked up my chance of getting back together with him. The others, I prefer to have no contact with, or stay on friendly terms... many we are cordial on good terms.

I do not stop loving someone simply because the relationship ended. Even those that I STILL love, I won't go back to, because it takes more than love to make things work and the problems are still there.

Depends on which ex. The one I had a child and lost said child with? No chance in hell ( long story. Not the right place)
If it was my more recent Ex. Yea I think I would like another chance with her. Doubtful though. She was more my type but i found out she was on some kink website were you meet up with other kink type people. And was still active while we were dating. She never mentioned it. We hardly had sex ( I assume because she was getting it through that site… i have never had a woman complain about my sexual ability) so long story short I ghosted her.

Well, I wouldn't call you unlucky either. Trust me, sometimes, I'd wish I never met my ex either, because love and heartbreak can definitely change you, for better or for worse, but I guess that's how it is and it all grows you as a person.
